Who knew you can heal yourself with a sound bowl?
Our bodies have the incredible ability to heal itself and we play an integral role in our own healing. There will always be a place for the guidance and facilitation of doctors and various practitioners but it is important to understand when you need them and when you can help yourself.
I have a firm belief in the power of energy healing and other modalities of a holistic nature. I recently came across Sounds of Healing on my instagram stories and promptly connected with Yusra Roberts, a Reiki Master and Sound Bowl Healer. Who knew sound can heal you?
What is Sound Healing?
It is a practice that uses vibrations, vocal or instrumental like Tibetan singing bowls and tuning forks.

When I showed up at my session, I was feeling exhausted and was worried that I may fall asleep. Yusra mentioned that clients often do because it is such a relaxing experience anyway.
I was surprised at the start because I did not expect to feel the vibrations so powerfully at my feet. Yusra works with the 7 main chakras, some bowls are placed on the body and some are played close to each chakra point. Either way, the vibrations are felt intensely. The first bowl placed on my body made me feel like laughing out loud and I found it interesting to discover that it was on the sacral chakra which is connected to emotions of joy and happiness. My eyes were closed and it was fascinating to see the different colours as each bowl was played.
At the end, Yusra used one of the bowls filled with warm water and gently massaged my body to get the energy flowing. I drank a glass of water with food grade peppermint essential oils afterwards to help with the release of toxins and to keep up with hydration. Needless, to say I left feeling energized and ready to take on the rest of my day!
This is an experience you need to have at least once in your lifetime. It is recommended that you stick with one modality at a time in order to experience and witness the benefits in yourself after each session.
